Our Place
A winery destination that delivers

Cellar Door
Our Cellar Door is housed in the original farmhouse on our Rapaura Road winery, a space full of character and history. Renovated in 2017, it blends villa charm with a relaxed, welcoming ambiance.
Join us for a guided tasting of our exceptional wines, each with a story that speaks to Marlborough’s land and legacy.
Take your time, wander through our native gardens, or settle into the Cellar Door garden with a glass in hand and something from our light lunch menu.
Experience an unforgettable celebration of the beauty of Marlborough and the art of winemaking. We look forward to welcoming you.

Native Garden
As you arrive at Hunter’s, you’re greeted by a half-hectare of native dryland planting – a striking reflection of the Wairau Plains landscape. Carefully designed around the principle of ‘right plant, right place,’ the garden showcases species chosen to thrive in their specific microclimates, creating a space that’s both resilient and beautiful.
Take your time to explore. Wander the paths, listen for native birdsong, and enjoy a moment of stillness among Marlborough’s natural textures. It’s a quiet reminder of the land we’re proud to call home.

Hunter’s Trellis
The trellis at Hunter’s Wines is one of our most recognisable features. Positioned at the front of the estate, it was initially planted as Cabernet Sauvignon by Ernie Hunter in the early 1980s. This trellis holds great significance, symbolising our rich vineyard history and commitment to producing exceptional wines. As you approach our estate, the trellis stands as a prominent and enduring representation of the passion and dedication infused into every bottle of Hunter’s wine.

Hunter’s olive grove
Nestled discreetly at the rear of our winery, Hunter’s is home to an olive grove. Since its inception in 1996, Jane and Mac have nurtured this special corner of our estate.
A leisurely walk through our native garden reveals this delightful surprise—the bountiful olive trees that grace our grove.
Each year, we embark on the annual olive harvest, carefully hand-picking the fruit. The result is a remarkable estate-grown Olive Oil that can be savored and purchased at our Shop or Cellar Door during your visit.
