2023 Hunter’s Pinot Noir

93 POINTS – Erin Larkin, Wine Advocate, February 2025

The 2023 Pinot Noir is a little reductive upon opening but leads with red cherry and pomegranate, raspberry seed and caper brine. The wine has an attractive Earl Grey tea/graphite character that I find very attractive. In the mouth, there is a swathe of savory exotic spices and soft, plump fruit along with a shaping of ductile tannins that feel woven into the fabric of the fruit. This is a lovely wine.

94 POINTS - Top 100 Wines of New Zealand, James Suckling, December 2024.

Lovely dark berries, cherries and strawberries with hints of graphite. Medium-bodied, this has fine tannins and a fresh finish.

2024 Hunter’s Sauvignon Blanc

90 POINTS – James Suckling, December 2024

Aromas of peaches, nectarines and Meyer lemons on the nose. The palate is textural with focused acidity giving notes of candied lime zest, blueberry bush and flint. Fresh and giving.

91 POINTS – Erin Larkin, Wine Advocate, December 2024

The 2024 Sauvignon Blanc is textural and leafy, with green tropical fruits – mainly kiwi fruit, feijoa, pineapple and passion fruit. In the mouth, the acidity is crunchy and pert. This is good wine!

5 STARS – Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, November 2024

Youthfully appealing, the wine shows Granny Smith apple, grapefruit, nectarine and lime zest aromas. The palate delivers excellent focus and lively mouthfeel, wonderfully supported by bright acidity, finishing lingering and vibrant. At its best now to 2027.

Hunter’s MiruMiru™ NV

94 POINTS – Cameron Douglas, The Shout, November 2024

A well-defined bouquet with a mix of autolysis, ripe stone fruits, crisp red apple, peach and butter brioche. There's also complexity, minerality, youthful energy and style. As the wine touches the palate, the flavours of grapefruit, apple and stone fruits are mixed with those of autolysis and baked goods. Crisp and dry, with a citrus peel and mineral complexity. The mousse is firm, bold, and refreshing, with adding to the crisp mouthfeel and youthful grip.

5 STARS - Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, November 2024

Elegant and complex, the enticing bouquet shows crunchy apple, lemon peel, white floral and almond meal characters with a yeasty overtone. The palate delivers excellent weight and persistency, splendidly complemented by silky texture and vibrant acidity, finishing long and satisfying. Beautifully composed and harmonious.

18.5/20 POINTS – Joelle Thomson, December 2024

MiruMiru™ is te reo Māori for sparkling wine; an apt and evocative name for one of New Zealand's best sparkling wines. Predominantly made from Chardonnay, Hunter's MiruMiru™ NV also contains a portion of Pinot Noir and a smidgeon of Pinot Meunier, which all combine in this smooth, dry and super tasty fizz. Toasty complex flavours come from Pinot Noir, which balances the crispness of the Chardonnay.
