Regenerative Viticulture

A visit from the New Zealand Landcare Trust

In March, Hunter’s hosted the New Zealand Landcare Trust team at our Delta Vineyard for a field visit focused on environmental restoration and sustainable land management.

Led by our Viticulturist, Jim Bowskill, the visit formed part of a nationwide programme bringing together Landcare staff and board members to learn from sustainability initiatives across Marlborough. At Delta, we shared our ongoing work to restore a natural wetland area within the vineyard.

Over recent seasons, this site has undergone extensive redevelopment, including native replanting to bring the wetland back to life. The project is already supporting
increased biodiversity, creating a habitat for native plants and birdlife, while enhancing the natural ecosystem within the vineyard.

It was a pleasure to showcase this work and exchange ideas with others committed to environmental stewardship. At Hunter’s, we believe that caring for the land is fundamental to producing great wine—and to ensuring these landscapes thrive for generations to come.
