James takes Hunter's on the road

James Macdonald, Jane’s nephew and Chief Commercial Officer, has spent the past few months on the road, taking Hunter’s wines beyond Marlborough and into tasting rooms, trade events and gatherings across the country.

In May, James joined the team at Naveya & Sloane’s Christchurch showroom for a special Mother’s Day event, pairing Hunter’s wines with beautiful jewellery and good company. In June, he headed to Moore Wilson’s in Wellington for an educational tasting with staff, sharing the stories behind the wines and strengthening an important relationship with one of our valued customers.

July brought a trade tasting in Auckland, giving James the opportunity to pour the wines for VIP guests, trade contacts, and reconnect with familiar faces.

In August, James hosted a tasting at Hinemoa St Cellar in Birkenhead, while the Hunter’s team also made its way to Winetopia in Auckland, but more on Winetopia in our next newsletter.

James has also featured in recent media, including The Spinoff, where he shared some of his favourite Marlborough food and wine spots.

For James, these events are about more than simply pouring wine. They’re an opportunity to meet the people who enjoy and sell Hunter’s, share the stories behind the wines and build relationships that extend well beyond the winery.

And there’s more travel ahead. In September and October, James will head to Europe to meet with Hunter’s importers and distributors, strengthen international relationships and continue sharing the Hunter’s story with our partners around the world.
