The People and Skills behind Hunter’s.
Introducing ….. Helen Neame
How long have you worked at Hunter’s and what is your role?
I have worked at Hunter’s for 26 years. My role is to welcome visitors to the Cellar Door and introduce them to the intriguing world of Hunter’s Wines.
Can you please explain what you do?
I introduce our visitors to the range and subtleties of the wine. I share the Hunter’s story and encourage them to become loyal members of the Hunter’s Wine Club.
What made you pursue a career in the wine industry?
I came from a corporate role with chartered accountants in Wellington and with a love of wine I pursued a career in the wine industry. I discovered Hunter’s Wines and loved the story and people.
What do you particularly like about the job?
I love the challenge to make a difference in people’s lives. I work very hard to ensure people leave the Cellar Door loving our wines, becoming part of our wine club family and my new best friends.
Favourite time of the year?
Summer holidays. Lots of visitors from all over New Zealand sitting in our beautiful gardens, drinking wine, eating food, and enjoying themselves.
Favourite Wines?
That’s a hard one. MiruMiru™ Reserve is my celebration wine, Offshoot Chardonnay with friends and a platter, Riesling for lunch, Gewurztraminer with Thai food and Gruner Veltliner anytime. Hunter’s Pinot Noir is my favourite red at the moment, it is developing beautifully.
