What’s been happening around Hunter’s Wines
Peta Mathias Visit
Well known chef, author, tv personality Peta Mathias entertained us with her stories about food, travel and living the dream life in the South of France when she visited in November. She had the crowd in stitches as she romped her way through an evening of full on fun and laughter at the ASB Theatre. The audience enjoyed a glass of award winning MiruMiru™ and local cheeses prior to settling in for the evening. Zonta Blenheim received a donation of $5.00 from every ticket sold.
The next day saw us at Harvest Restaurant for a four-course lunch, designed by Chef Toby, matched with some of our award-winning wines. In the luxurious but relaxing surroundings of the splendid Harvest Restaurant and extensive gardens, Peta again kept the guests in stitches with her many stories from her travels. A great way to while away a few hours.
Covid may have prevented our overseas travels for the year but we have still been able to get around the country to maintain contact with customers and to meet wine clubs and host dinners. Inus was recently in Hamilton to fly the flag and James and Jane were in Christchurch hosting a dinner at the Christchurch Club.
We get some strange requests and when Outward Bound phoned to ask if they could visit with 65 students as part of an activity day, we wondered what they were going to be doing. Low and behold they had contacted artist Clarry Neame and their task was to complete group paintings. The end results, some amazing artworks!
Recent visitors enjoying their wine tasting on the verandah were pleasantly surprised when a little bird decided to perch next to them and follow the proceedings! He was too young to join the tasting but seemed fascinated by the process!
