Featured wine - Hunter’s Riesling.
Riesling is considered by many to be one of the world’s great wine grapes and to produce some of the very best white wines.
Riesling has flourished in the relatively cool climate of Marlborough and the wines produced are elegant and delicate and can range from sweet to dry.
Riesling wines are often consumed when young, but their naturally high acidity makes them suitable for extended aging.
With time, Riesling wines tend to gain a petrol note. This is an integral part of the aroma profile of mature Riesling and is sought after by many experienced drinkers.
Our first Riesling was produced in 1982 and Riesling have been consistent medal and trophy winners for us over the years.
Notably we have won the Easter Show Rose Bowl Trophy twice. This award is for three vintages of a wine variety across a decade show casing the aging potential of the variety. On last count we have a tally of twenty Gold Medals and four trophies for Riesling – not a bad effort.
